Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is considered "short hair" and "long hair" for booking head check or follow up appointments?
A: When booking an appointment where you are asked to select the length of hair for the service, hair that is long enough to section at least some of it into a clip or ponytail, we consider "long hair". If you cannot pull any of the hair into a ponytail or clip, it is considered "short hair":

Q: I’m not sure if I have lice — should I book a head check or a lice removal?
A: If you’re unsure whether you have lice, you can book a head check, which is a 15-minute appointment. However, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to start a full lice removal during that time, since lice removals typically take 60 to 90 minutes. If you want to ensure that a lice removal happens right away, we recommend booking a lice removal appointment instead — just know that there is a $60 minimum fee if no lice is present.

Q: Do I need to schedule head checks for the whole family if someone has lice?
A: Yes — to qualify for our 60-Day Guarantee, all family members in all households (including nannies) must be checked.

Q: How should I prepare for my appointment?
A: Please come with hair detangled and clean — whether you’re coming in for a head check or a lice removal. This helps us get started quickly and makes the process smoother for both you and our clinician. We understand if your child just came from sports or activities — just do your best to make sure the hair is brushed and manageable. The easier it is to comb, the faster and more comfortable the treatment will be!
Q: I called but haven’t heard back yet — what should I do?
A: During our busy season, it may take us some time to return calls or emails. The fastest way to check availability is always through Booksy, which shows our real-time openings. If there are no lice removal appointments available right away, we may be booking out a few days — especially during peak times. We’ll do our best to get you in as soon as possible!
Q: I think I found lice but I’m not sure — what should I do?
A: If you’ve saved what you found, you can text us a clear, magnified, and focused photo at 612.564.0678. We’re happy to take a look and help confirm whether it’s lice, nits, or something else. If you’d rather bring it in, save the sample in a sealed plastic bag or taped to paper and we can identify it at your appointment.

Q: My husband or child has a buzzed head — do they still need to get checked?
A: Yes — unless their hair was completely shaved off, they should still be checked. Lice can lay their eggs (nits) on the base of the hair shaft, next to the scalp. So if there’s any hair left from a guarded clipper cut, we recommend bringing them in for a head check to be sure.

Q: What if I have curly or coily hair (3C, 4A, 4B, 4C hair types)?
A: For clients with 3C to 4C hair textures, head checks are:
-
$100/hour during regular hours
-
$140/hour after hours

👉 Please call us directly to schedule a head check if you have these hair types.
For lice removal treatments, curly/coily hair is billed at our standard treatment rate of $120/hour (regular hours) and $160/hour (after hours).
We welcome and are experienced in working with all hair types — we’ll ensure your hair is treated with the care and expertise it deserves!

Q: What will my hair look like after treatment? Do I need to wash it right away?
A: After treatment, your hair will be damp, combed, and conditioned — we only use water and a mild conditioner during the process, never pesticides or harsh chemicals. There’s no need to wash your hair immediately after treatment, but you can if you prefer. We also offer to style your hair in a braid or bun after treatments and follow-ups, which we recommend to help prevent re-exposure.
Bonus: Braids or buns are especially important during your 60-Day Guarantee period to keep your hair protected around others!

Q: My child has sensory sensitivities or a sensitive scalp — how will you handle their treatment?
A: We understand that every child is different and may have unique needs during their lice removal. All of our clinicians undergo thorough in-clinic training focused on gentle, patient, and compassionate care to make the experience as comfortable as possible. We also offer distractions like movies, snacks, water, and fidget toys to help children stay calm and engaged. If you have specific concerns or requests, please let us know before your appointment so we can best support your child.

Q: If I book a head check and have lice, do I still have to pay for the head check?
A: If your head check is positive for lice and we have availability to start a lice removal right away, the time spent on the head check is rolled into the removal cost. If we don’t have availability at that time and you need to book a lice removal for a later date, the head check fee will still apply.
